Unique Light Festival Experience: Departure from the Winter Terrace at Smidtje Canal Café

Before boarding, we recommend arriving 30-15 minutes before the boat tour, you can enjoy the winter terrace at our canal-side restaurant, Smidtje Canal Café. While listening to festive Christmas music in the background, you can comfortably sit on the canal terrace with a heater next to you to keep warm. Complete your experience with a treat or a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate from our snack stand. If the weather doesn’t cooperate or it’s too cold, you can warm up inside our restaurant. We offer a wide selection of beers, excellent wines, and of course, delicious coffee and tea.

Next, step aboard our heated boats for a cruise along the beautiful light artworks. At the end of the tour, you will disembark at Smidtje Canal Café, right in the heart of the city. From there, you can continue to enjoy Amsterdam and explore one of the many cozy cafes or restaurants nearby. Enjoy your time in Amsterdam worry-free!

Amsterdam Light Festival: the route

For years, we’ve been offering winter cruises through Amsterdam, and we know exactly how to provide you with an unforgettable evening. On board an Amsterdam Circle Line boat, you’ll enjoy comfort, with optional drinks or snacks available. Meanwhile, our experienced local skipper will guide you past the most impressive artworks that illuminate the Amsterdam canals.

During the Amsterdam Light Festival, artists transform the city and canals with enchanting light installations. The boat tour departs from Prinsengracht 261A, right next to the Anne Frank House (see the map). After approximately 75 minutes of cruising through a wintery, illuminated Amsterdam, you’ll be dropped off at the starting point.

The Amsterdam Light Festival begins on November 30, 2024, and runs until January 19, 2025. Don’t miss this special edition!
